(...) And finally, a few words about Ester Krumbachová's paintings. They are her private domain and take us far back into the past, to the games of childhood imagination. However, they also contain a great deal of later insight, as evidenced by the culture of their artistic execution. Above all, we are struck by the strange connection between naivety—which Ester Krumbachová herself claims to be a great strength—and the ancient experience of life remembering the history of our planet and its creatures. The capricious lightness of imagination that floats in these creations is at the same time a terrible force that cannot be controlled. - Excerpt from Miroslav Lamač's text for Ester Krumbachová's exhibition at the Na Újezdě Gallery in Prague, 1989
